IFI Receives Exclusive Irish Halal Certification Recognition

At the recent Annual General Meeting of the World Halal Food Council, held between 29 Sept-1st Oct 2015 in Jakarta, Indonesia, the IFI has been awarded the prestigious Halal Certification Authority membership - recognising the IFI Halal Meat and Food Certification as its only valid Halal Certification in Ireland.

IFI now joins a select few Halal Certification Authorities in Europe, recognising its years of service in fair, rigours and dedicated service to the Halal Industry in Ireland.

The IFI representative attended the AGM initially as an observer and at the end of the meeting it was officially announced that the Islamic Foundation of Ireland has been accepted as full member of the World Halal Food Council.

The World Halal Food Council (WHFC) was founded in 1999 by the Assessment Institute for Food, Drugs and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI). The idea of the Council is to bring the Halal certifying bodies world-wide together to enhance mutual cooperation between them. One of the purposes of the Council is to develop and maintain a unique global Halal standard. The headquarters of the Council is in Jakarta, Indonesia. Currently there are 46 certification bodies from 25 countries which are members of the Council.
